Since 2007 Callander and Climate Change has been working alongside the community to reduce carbon emissions and build a more resilient and sustainable future for Callander. Over the last nineteen months, with the help of a Climate Challenge Fund Grant, we have been able to employ local people to take this work forward. One of our main targets for this period was to gather information from local sources and beyond to help Callander look into the future and see what kind of things we need to do to build a low carbon, resilient and sustainable community. “A Sustainable Future for Callander” is the result.

This document makes a start at setting out the challenges we might face over the next 15 years; what kind of community we would like Callander to be in the future and how we might get there. It is not a finished document. Nobody knows exactly what the future will bring. No doubt, the ideas and solutions we choose as a community will be a combination of things suggested here and other projects not yet conceived of. “A Sustainable Future for Callander” aims to show the scale, type and combination of actions that are required.

We hope a “Sustainable Future for Callander” will inform, provoke and inspire and that it will begin process to help us face the future with confidence and hope.
